The city of Three Rivers was declared the winning municipality in a five-community  snowman-making contest Saturday. Ten teams drawing a total of more than 50 people took part in the two-hour event. Rescue crews saved eight dogs including six puppies from a burning mobile home in southwestern Michigan. Kalamazoo Public Safety says officers responded Sunday night along with firefighters from Portage Public Safety and the Comstock Township Fire Department.
