State releases local unemployment report

April’s unemployment rate in St. Joseph County was four-tenths of a percent lower than the previous month. The monthly labor-market analysis by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget showed the county’s 3.3 percent April unemployment rate marked a decrease from March’s 3.7 percent. Sturgis Missionary Church has announced it will have a volunteer and computer available starting next month for anyone needing assistance with paperwork or internet access. Teenager injured in crash

An Indiana teenager was injured in a single-vehicle accident this week in Nottawa Township. Sheriff’s officials said the 17-year-old driver from Osceola, Ind., appeared to have suffered a medical condition while driving at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday.
