Body of diver inspecting dam found in southwestern Michigan

A diver has died while inspecting a dam in southwestern Michigan. The diver was working for an engineering group and completing an underwater inspection Wednesday of Consumers Energy’s Calkins Bridge Dam in the Kalamazoo River and Lake Allegan in Valley Township, the utility said in a news release. Fuel theft in Florence Township

Sheriff Mark Lillywhite said deputies responded to a report of larceny earlier this week in Florence Township. Deputies responded at 1:30 p.m. Monday to the 18000 block of Banker Street, where fuel was reported stolen from farm equipment. Centreville schools approve budget

Centreville Public Schools adopted a $9 million budget last week. Anticipated expenditures are about $400,000 more than what was spent in the 2020-21 budget year, which concluded June 30.
