Board accepts resignation of Kalamazoo County administrator

The administrator of Kalamazoo County has resigned after being put on leave last month. Administrator Terrence Neuzil’s resignation was unanimously accepted Tuesday by the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners after a closed-door meeting. Damage at Oaklawn Cemetery in the city of Sturgis last weekend is estimated to be in excess of $50,000. The Sturgis Police Department said the majority of headstones destroyed or damaged date to the 1800s and are expensive to replace. Authorities say the former executive director of an ambulance service in southwestern Michigan misappropriated nearly $100,000 in funds from the nonprofit. The Berrien County prosecutor’s office announced Tuesday that 49-year-old Timothy Gray of Clermont, Florida, is charged with embezzlement of $50,000 to $100,000.
