Nanette Bent, 96

Nanette Flora Bent, age 96, of Marcellus, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at her home.

She was born February 26, 1928 in Sturgis, the daughter of Raymond and Martha (Gotsch) Pierson, and graduated from Sturgis High School with the class of 1945.

On July 26, 1950, Nanette married June Bent. She was a faithful and devoted wife and mother who worked side by side with her husband and children on their family farm.

She loved cooking and quilting, with Church World Relief often benefiting from her handiwork. An active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, she taught Sunday School, participated in Lutheran Ladies’ Aid, helped with funeral services and luncheons, and baked cookies for the blood bank.

Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband, June Bent; sons, Douglas (Stefania) Bent and Dale (Sara) Bent; daughters, Susan (Larry) Engel and Sharon (James) Bachinski; grandchildren, Pete (Coree) Bachinski, Paul (Kathryn) Bachinski, Rebekah (Jason) Williams, Rachelle (Brian) Smith, Derek (Marisa) Bent, Forrest Bent, Lincon Bent, and Kohan Bent; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marilyn Pierson.

Nanette was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Raymond, Norman, and Marion; four sisters, Marcella Jo, Martha Jean, Rayma Lee, and Ruth.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 1200 Arnold St., Three Rivers. Her funeral service will follow at 11:00 at the church with Pastor Ron Moritz officiating. She will be laid to rest at Howardsville Cemetery.

Donations in Nanette’s memory may be directed to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Envelopes will be available at the church and at Hohner Funeral Home.
