County unemployment up

May’s unemployment rate in St. Joseph County was half a percent higher than one month previous. The monthly labor-market analysis by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget showed the county’s 3.9 percent May unemployment rate marked an increase from April’s 3.4 percent. Boy drowns at Elkhart water park, 2nd boy hospitalized

A 10-year-old boy has drowned at a water park owned by the city of Elkhart. A 9-year-old boy made it to shore and is hospitalized in fair condition.
