The Burr Oak Village Council this week hired a part-time police officer. The employment of Sturgis resident Steve Johnson, 44, became effective Wednesday. A two-vehicle crash late Monday afternoon in Florence Township resulted in the death of a Three Rivers man. Peter McDonough, age 62, died in the crash.  He was driving north on Constantine Road when his Jeep collided with a southbound semi truck between Fairchild and Withers roads.
