Michigan State Police troopers are investigating the larceny of a motor vehicle from a location in Branch County’s Algansee Township. Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a larceny incident that took place earlier this week in Park Township. Undersheriff Jason Bingaman said the incident occurred Tuesday night in the area of Heimbach Road and U.S. 131. Investigators said a black and yellow compactor and the catalytic converter off a vehicle in the area were stolen.

Lowry and Mims Jr win spots on November ballot

Tom Lowry survived a primary election challenge Tuesday and will face-off against challenger Vernis Mims Jr. in November’s general election. Voters in the Colon Community Schools district approved renewal of its millage rate for general operations Tuesday. At stake was renewal of 18.561 mills, which funds a significant portion of the district’s operations.
