Jeremy Gooch has been awarded the Professor Emeritus B. Swartz Scholarship for Excellence in Mathematics. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a Glen Oaks student with an outstanding record in mathematics courses. Gooch was recommended for the scholarship by Glen Oaks mathematics instructors. Glen Oaks holds commencement ceremony

Glen Oaks Community College staged its 49th commencement ceremony Friday. In all, 112 of the college’s 152 graduates took part in Friday’s ceremony. College officials said the youngest graduate was 18, the oldest 58 and average age of graduates was 24 1/2. The Sturgis Public Schools Board of Education recently voted unanimously to proceed with tenure charges pursuant to the Teachers’ Tenure Act against Keith Lang.
