Former Park Township supervisor passes away

A longtime township official in St. Joseph County passed away last week after a brief illness. Joe Eichorn, former supervisor of Park Township, died Wednesday. The 63-year-old Three Rivers-area resident was given medical leave from the Park Township Board of Trustees. Eichorn was elected township supervisor in 2008. Ed English was subsequently named interim supervisor.

Ribbon cutting held for new COA

A significant moment in the history of the St. Joseph County Commission On Aging was celebrated last week. Friday’s ceremonial ribbon cutting to recognize the agency’s new headquarters in Three Rivers attracted several dozen people. Pistol stolen from vehicle

A pistol was stolen from a vehicle last month in White Pigeon Township. The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department was called Aug. 19 to the Klinger Lake Public Access on Crooked Creek Road in response to a report of burglary to a motor vehicle. Gas cans stolen in Burr Oak

The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department is reporting that a number of five-gallon gas cans were stolen from a Burr Oak Township location last week. Sheriff’s officials said the incident took place Sept. 2 in the 65000 block of Burr Oak Road. Investigators said the suspect broke into a building and stole five, 5-gallon cans filled with gas.

Constantine prohibits recreational marijuana

The Constantine Village Council approved an ordinance prohibiting the use of recreational marijuana Tuesday. COA plans ribbon-cutting event

The St. Joseph County Commission on Aging is celebrating the opening of its new home in Three Rivers with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting event.
